MG Shining Gundam

Just finished watching G Gundam around a week ago and was fairly/surprisingly hyped about the series after watching it. I watched all the Gundam series except for the original 0079 Gundam now… And the reason why I held off watching G Gundam was because the concept of having different Gundam representing different countries = dumb idea. It’s dumb because that’s not war, and it’s not how Gundam is suppose to be, but I suppose that’s excusable because Bandai wanted to take a non-Gundam approach to the series to attract a different/new fan base. It was successful in Asia none the less, because as we all know there are some G Gundam lovers out there…

In short, G Gundam was good if you ignore the racist stereotypes of the different countries… ( examples being… Tequila Gundam from Mexico… with a SOMBRERO!?!?, Zebra Gundam from Africa, holding a wooden spear and a tribesman shield…, and many others…)

On to the photos, I bought this Gundam ages ago when I was a teenager. That’s when I don’t care about Gundam stories or whatever, I just liked the design and the capabilities of going emo mode.

The only thing I really dislike about the G Gundam series Master Grades is that they come with a few screws… and to me… that’s a little unnecessary, and at the same time annoying. ( The screws go into the elbow joints and knee joints if I didn’t remember wrong.)

Transform…

But none the less, the shoulders are able to turn at a near 90 degree angle to the front for better pose-ability.

I didn’t bother changing it back to normal mode because I think it’d hideous, so I put the normal mode face inside its box, sealed off somewhere I don’t care to look for.

Dragon Ball Gundam…

At the same time, the annoying screw joints do lead to a more solid kit… even though it makes the joints really stiff, and sometimes too stiff, causing the plastic to snap…( so those who want to pick up G Gundam Master Grades, don’t bother tightening up the screws too much…)

no display stand for him…

1 of the selling point of the G Gundam serieis is their rubber sole feet and their rubber hands to create that mobile fighter-ish look… And Shining Gundam does come with a 2 piece rubber holding stuff hand… So I tried to fit Lucas’ IWSP Strike E’s short sword into his hand and even though it was a tight fit, it looks pretty cool…

Shining Gundam comes with 1 short sword and 1 long/standard sword… like a traditional Samurai.

Besides the stiff joints, the balance of this kit is also pretty good.

The arms can bend all the way till its hands touch its own shoulders… but there’s really no reason to pose it like that… ever….

And that’s about how much the knee can bend towards the back.

Nub marks are visible everywhere… built this in my teen years… just did some basic fix up…
